Alien8
We loved playing 99 as adults, so we reimagined and redesigned this favorite to play with our kids using a space theme. Alien8 provides a fun way to practice addition and subtraction. Players add their alien totals to score a 51, an Area 51 that is! Rocket reversals (reverses direction), space walks (keep the score the same allowing you to float by and skip a turn), and asteroid strikes ( subtract 10) may help or hurt, but stay the course and complete your quest to keep your stars! The object is to alienate your opponents and be the last astronaut holding a star!

"Alien8 is a fast, fun family card game in which a running total of sums based on cards played from players' hands cannot exceed 51. Or rather it can, and does, but the player who tips the total past 51 pays the price of one of 3 gold star cards allotted each player at the game's outset. Things move quickly, as do kids' minds as they continually add to (and sometimes subtract from) the running total in what at times seems like a sprint for the numeric threshold. Think you're about to win? Not so fast! Numerous special cards in the deck regularly turn the tables on players in the blink of an eye. And only the players holding them know what surprises are in store for the others. The lighthearted alien theme on display in the special card names (rocket reversals, asteroid strikes, space walks), playful illustrations and even the Area 51 related threshold only add to the fun, making Alien8 a wonderfully entertaining pastime and a great way to practice basic math!"
